I'm one of those who never write review normally because I don't like to leave traces online. However, this group of dentists have played with my daughter's health and they don't even deserve 1 star, but 1 is the minimum. My daughter don't freeze. No dentist is able to freeze her mouth. And she had "clay teeth" so she needed major repair all at the same time. So, they sent us to this place (Sedation Dental Group) because they sedate. Sadly, this was the worst experience of our life. Just so you understand, I prefer to negotiate with my insurances than with Sedation Dental Group! We discovered that they are really inhuman and everything is about money. I can understand, everyone work for money, but there are limits, and they have passed the limits X10000. They are not dentists, they are businessman "butcher". They don't want to repair your teeth, they want more and more and MORE money, until you ask them why it is now 11000$ more than what was supposed to be 6000$ to repair ALL at first(total = 18000$), without reason, just because... It was supposed to be repaired in only 2 times. They make sure to NOT DO the work at the first sedation and to begin some job so you have no choice to come back. But they ask more money, you bet. They made a "temporary" root canal! It pays more for them to make you pay again and again for the sedation and to repair the same teeth again and again. They don't like you to ask why the price as changed that much, so after you ask, they do everything to make you feel uncomfortable and even make you feel stupid to ask. It's all our fault, even if they are the one who destroyed some of the teeth, it's still our fault. They repeat again and again that they are SPECIALISTS! But if they were specialists, why were they not able to repair the teeth of my daughter after 6 months? And it was URGENT! Our regular dentist was really angry too know that they took 6 months to "NOT REPAIR" the teeth and to have left my daughter suffer all that time. They are unable to explain why it cost so much, what is the treatments they want to do. The last time I asked, the woman there (employee) told me that she was unable to explain the cost, that this was the dentist (owner) who was asking for the $$$ and decided it was that much, without clear reason or explanation. She told me that if she was me and if it was for her daughter, she would go see another place with her daughter. This is exactly what I did and we discovered that there are real dentists who care for their patients. They repaired the mess by Sedation Dental Group, even the root canal that was not completed, they completed everything in only 2 weeks, and it was easy and even enjoyable! Remember, IT WAS URGENT! They made it urgent. The cost was NOT 18000$ too, it was like a normal dentist! And the sedation was really more enjoyable than what it was at SDG. It's real sleep, not sedation. Everyone, including our regular dentist are telling us to sue Sedation Dental Group for what they did to my daughter. We won't. They really deserve to be sued, but... All I wanted is that my daughter have her health safe, teeth repaired. It is done now and she can live healthy, without pain. But it was done by a REAL SPECIALIST, not by this "butcher" fake specialist. We won't sue them, we want to forget about them. But hopefully, this review can save a lot of suffering, time and money to at least one person. Sedation MENTAL group is a no go. Go see Dr JI, he is an artist.

Years ago I had work completed at The Sedation Dental Group. At that time I considered the work and service I received to be excellent! So when my husband and I (both of us have anxiety when it comes to dental work) decided it is time to have dental work completed I didn't hesitate to to come back to this group. We both recently had treatment plans completed and of course the costs seemed very high, but then again dental work is an expensive treatment no matter what office you use. After receiving our plans from Cynthia and Dr. D I looked at the online reviews for this office and found several complaints about their excessive rates. I decided I should compare rates and see if this complaint was true. After researching Ontario dental costs I found the rates of this office are either average rates or even on the lower end of Ontario rates. Of course, when the cost of sedation is included, the costs go way up. Maybe for some of the other reviewers their insurances won't pay for sedation and they are out of pocket for that expense so they feel the rates are too high??? but as far as I can tell I don't believe this office charges over the top for their dental work. I had to have a root canal done, and all things considered they made it as painless as possible, even without the sedation.

Great dental office!
i am a very nervous at the dentist and this team was able to make me feel very comfortable. The front staff was very understanding and booked me very quickly when i was in pain. The dentist and assistant were fantastic!!! The dentist took the time to answer all the questions i had and was gave me a multiple options. I felt like the understood my needs and worked with me to provide all the dental care i could afford. I am very happy. Usually i only go to the dentist when i feel the need, but they have made me very comfortable as part of the "sedation dental group" family, that i am booked next week for a full cleaning and check up. I am looking forward to it!!!

I've been to Sedation Dental Group a bunch of times, mostly for cleaning and maintenance.. My first visit, it had been many years since I had a good cleaning. They left me with an amazing smile and clean teeth. They felt smooth and clear of all tarter. The staff are wonderful to deal with and the hygienist did amazing work to clean my teeth with no pain or discomfort. All other follow ups since have been equally amazing and I would refer anybody to Sedation Dental Group.

UPDATE March 8 - Sedation Dental Group called me as they did not like my google review. She kept raising her voice to me and cutting me off in mid-sentence and sarcastically said what did you think the dentist was free. I am reporting Sedation Dental Group to the Dental Association.
I booked an appointment with Sedation Dental Group on Monday, March 1 and when I was billed it shows as an emergency appointment $100.00. I was never told that my appointment is considered an emergency or that the consultation fee would be $100.00 because it is an emergency. I should be informed so I can make an informed decision. Had someone told me this I would have said NO!

Absolutely terrible practice. I had a bad feeling going into this place and it was validated in their practice.
I went in initially to have 2 molars crowned. Since its a sedation clinic you have to come in early and the nurse and assistants prep you for surgery. While asking questions they gave me a sedative. What they should have done was ask me medical questions first then decide if it was ok to go ahead with the surgery then given me a sedative. While prepping they were prepping me, the assistant was going back and forth to get the dentists opinion because it's beneath him to interact with patients until its time to IV sedate. They ultimately decided not to go forward with the surgery until they received a note from my family doctor.to which I believe that is within their rights to do so. What floored me was the receptionist informing me that I will not be getting my deposit back because the time was allotted for me. I was too drugged to argue so I left. The next day I called the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and was informed of my rights, emailed the manager and got my money back. The one tooth they actually worked on may have to be redone because my new dentist told me he didn't insert posts in the root canal.
This dentist has a god complex and mistreats his staff. He even came into the room while I was in there and was bashing me to his staff. It was super uncomfortable.

I was referred by my dentist to Sedation Dental Group for my daughter's teeth, which were very neglected and full of cavities as well as gum disease. She was dealing with stress and anxiety and couldn't cope with regular brushings for awhile. At 17, I took her to Sedation Dental Group and both she and I were treated as valued people. We had sympathy, no blame and great help. Yes, it was expensive for us due to the extent of her work and her needing to be put out for the procedures, but I wouldn't take her anywhere else for this type of work ever.
If I need a specialist again, I will not hesitate to return! I would make them my regular dentists but I live too far away for regular visits.

I have nothing but incredible things to say about "my" team of professionals at Sedation Dental Group. Dr. Alkhani painlessly removed a molar that was infected and abscessed and then sutured the site, and I am at home now, pain-free. All of the associated personnel were professional, courteous and extremely empathetic. I don't require sedation for my dental procedures; if you do require this service, I am sure you will have an excellent outcome.
The Sedation Dental Group has been a fixture in my life since 2007, I am sincere when I say that they have been, and will continue to be my resource for a healthy dental future.

Although from the Ottawa Valley, I travel to Ottawa for my dental care. I trust the Sedation Dental Team for all my dental procedures and have had extensive work done under targeted sedation. Treatment plans are discussed and underlying medical conditions are factored into the plan. They address my concerns and always answer all my questions. I'm a regular patient of Dr. Flores and during her mat leave have had great work done by Dr. Alkhani. You're in confident hands with this clinic!

The front staff are amazing people!
From the second I walked in to the time I left the front desk made me laugh and feel very welcomed.
Dr. Priyanka and her assistant Dawn who did the work on me were an amazing team.

Over the past decades I have gradually developed anxiety at the dentist whenever complicated work (cleanings are OK) is done toward the back half of my mouth and I hate rubber dams. About 7 years ago I was referred to Seadation Dental and I have been quite happy with the work they have done. They are very attentive and take great care to inform me of what will be done and they do a followup by phone the next day. It is expensive and my insurance doesn't cover the Sedation cost, and the first visit is an extra cost since it essentially confirms what my regular dentist has diagnosed, but these extra costs are worth it to me to not have the anxiety I was having before coming to this dentist (and I think I have been seen by three different ladies and they have all been great!)

Everyone is so kind. I had a total of 3 appointment to have both top and bottom full extractions and the dentist was awesome as well is the anesthesiologist and excuse me if I misspell his name Dr.Surapov was totally hilarious. I've been going to Sedation Dental for around 10 years now. As someone who used to fear the dentist, I always look forward to my check ups and cleanings. I recently had 4 teeth extracted under sedation and I was so nervous but the staff were so comforting and supportive and the procedure went really well. I was complaining about an incredible tooth ache, and within 4 hours of calling they were able to book my appointment and finish the tooth extraction. They were quick, efficient, they were very cheerful and funny. In the future I plan to return for any other dental needs, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for help.

I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I ended up having to switch dentist. because The Nurse there, Kelly, shamed me to tears, because I am a patient on permanent disability and was not able to afford the $3600 deep sedation out of pocket. She literally said to me “We can’t just do the work for free!” I was speechless.
All I requested was that we go forward with the lesser form of sedation that was still beyond my means, but necessary. They refused at that point to do my treatment. Kelly refused to respond to my emails after this, and the manager, Terri, avoided my calls and was “on vacation” anytime I tried to reach her. No one ever deserves to be shamed by dental staff over their financial situation.
As a former nurse myself, I have never in my life witnessed such inappropriate, unacceptable treatment from ANY health care provider.
I went there on a referral for a cracked tooth. They refused to discuss my options with me to treat the tooth until I underwent a full cleaning ???? I was booked in the next week, and the hygienist I had, (I don’t remember her name but she was a petite Indian woman) was absolutely amazing and she gave me some reassurance to move forward. What a mistake. 3 months and counting and I have yet to receive treatment for a fractured tooth.
Avoid these crooks at all cost! There’s one other sedation dentist in Ottawa - go there if you must!

I have had a great experience, especially for a first time cavity. My usual dentist had seen me and said I have a number of cavities that would need to be filled and of course never having one before and terrified of needles I was referred to this clinic. Dr Mustafa's calm and knowing personality relieved some stress in explaining that there were only really 2 that would be worth filling as the others weren't quite there yet (more healthy tooth would have to be removed in order to fill) and that by switching to a higher level fluoride could in fact "naturally" remove those. His assistant Dawn was a lifesaver in explaining the step by step and her incredible personality helped ease some of my nerves. They checked in at every step of the procedure, explained what was happening, and overall I had such a great experience I will gladly go back if I need more work done (though I hope not :))

Sedation Dental has a fantastic staff very comforting, caring, and help you through all your options. Sangeeta is great to talk to and very knowledgeable to help come up with a plan of action for all your dental needs.
The dentist and assistant always make you feel so comfortable and as relaxed as you can get at a dentists office.

My daughter has been under General Anesthesia 3 times at this location. The care has been compassionate and the staff has more than competently dealt with almost unmanageable dental anxiety and stress. The laser work done on the gum line has eliminated terrible sensitivity and significantly improved my daughters quality of life. Highly recommend.

I have been going to Sedation Dental Group for 40 years. My anxiety of dentistry has been a life long issue, but from day one these folks have helped me so very much. And I have have loads of work done over the years, and most recently had two extractions that was like clock work. My anxiety is much less today due soaly to their staff and how they deal with my situation. Not inexpensive, but certainly worth every dime. Great team they have.

My experience with Sedation Dental was amazing.
I have a lot of fear when it comes to dental work and spent the weeks leading up to my appointment having to tell myself no to every excuse my brain came up with to get out of going. If you're reading this you likely know what I'm talking about.
While I struggled to get myself to the appointment, I am so glad I did. Everyone I was in contact with was understanding and very obviously doing everything they could to make my experience be as easy as possible on me. They took the time to get to know me and my concerns, and I never felt judged. I was asked what I wanted from my experience and I got exactly what I asked for. Their professionalism and caring attitudes made it the best possible outcome for me from reducing my anxiety to making sure I don't remember the things I don't want to remember. While I hope I never have to have more work done in the future I do know where I will be going to get it done, and I'm confident that I'll be a lot more relaxed in the time leading up to it. I can't thank them enough for helping me get the work I needed done in a way that made me feel supported and without fear.

I cannot express how grateful I am for this service. My sister has huge anxiety around medical settings after a very traumatic experience and she hasn’t been able to go to the dentist in the past couple of years because of it. She had to have a bunch of things done, and Sangita (one of the treatment coordinators) was AMAZING at moving things around and getting her scheduled as soon as possible because of the mouth pain she was experiencing. She was also available for questions and very responsible with calling us back, and the level of compassion we experienced from every single staff member from front desk to nurse to anesthesiologist was incredible. A BIG thank you to everyone on behalf of our whole family. Zero hesitations recommending this clinic for anyone who needs extra care or sedation or understanding for dental procedures. Absolutely outstanding.

My experience at the sedation dental group was phenomenal!!!! I am in my 50s and had to have all of my four wisdom teeth extracted some were impacted. You heard horror stories of wisdom teeth dental procedures: waking up from sedation with mouth full of gauzes and blood, pain, swelling, bruising, even temporary nerve damage for days????NOTHING!!!! 24 h after surgery when you supposed to feel the worst I went swimming in the river with my dogs - I actually called the clinic to double check that they removed the teeth or maybe forgot since I had absolutely no side effects. The recovery was….. not existent. Oh and they did deep cleaning of my teeth when I was out as well! If you hate dental procedures (who doesn’t), if you feel anxious about teeth extractions or even deep fillings, even if you are uneasy about needles - this is the place to go! They seemed so pre-occupied with choosing the right pillow and blanket to make me comfortable, fussing about the chair recline and joking light hardest that I did not even notice until it was all done and my parter drove me home. Imagine - that they give you a mild relaxant before the IV which made me very happy bc I was hungry (don’t forget to fast) and it came in a yummy blend of mango juice and maple syrup. In a nutshell - as great of an experience as one could possibly have with oral surgery!!!!!! I highly recommend it!!!!!

Medical staff is fantastic, administrative policies need some work. Be aware that their estimates for cost can be way off. I was given a 4K estimate and while coming out of sedation they placed an invoice and debit machine in my hand for an additional 2K. I understand that sedation might be hard to estimate but a 50% hike in cost is a large amount. Had they at least given me 24 hours, so as to allow me to deal with the added cost once I was fully out of sedation and had full return of my faculties, it would have gone a long way to making me feel safe in their hands, unfortunately, I wont be returning.

My experience with Sedation Dental Group was amazing! I have terrible anxiety around dental settings and everybody I was in contact with was so understanding, I never felt rushed in any way. Duncan, the Anesthesiologist, the Doctors, the Nurses, Sangeeta, everybody was so kind and treated me so well. I will definitely be going back if I need anymore big dental jobs done! Once again, I had a very positive experience at my dental office. I have experienced pain from a dentist when I was a child and so now have anxiety over dental work but the hygienist is so caring, patient and careful that I feel totally comfortable during the visit. The Dentist provides me with clear information and assurance to enable me to make the best decision possible for my dental care. My teeth are sensitive as my roots are exposed but the hygienist takes her time to clean them. The staff provide an excellent service. They take the time to help you overcome any anxious feelings during the appointment. I feel confident that they’re providing the best possible treatment for my dental health. This entire team took excellent care of me through consultation and my surgical procedure . Communications were clear and effective, and the concern for my anxiety made me feel much better about the tooth extraction and bone graft I needed. The anesthesiologist was incredibly comforting and relaxed, I felt I was in great hands! A follow up call next day was appreciated, as I had a chance to ask questions and get reminders for important follow-up care. Thank you! After MULTIPLE dentist appointments at other places in Ottawa/Gatineau and almost Toronto and no luck finding help for my 3 year old baby, I was referred to sedation dental.
We were originally referred to pediadent who told us they need thousands of dollars up front and would not split up treatments, we felt hopeless.
Dr Dora understood that this was a toddler in pain and gave us options. ACTUAL options.
For the first time in a very stressful week, I felt reassured and some relief.
I'm SO thankful for this entire staff.

Staff treated my wife and I very well. They somehow made the injections in my gums almost painless when getting work done. My wife was heavily involved in the dental implant process and the staff always answered her questions along the way. The lengthy process wasn't cheap, but it was well worth it. We will be coming back for our dental care in the future. Thank you everyone for treating us so well.

This office is a haven for people with dental anxiety. I have overwhelming anxiety around the dentist, and the staff makes it possible for me to visit. They made me feel safe and in control of the visit. I absolutely recommend for anyone that struggles with going to the dentist - no matter how big your fear!

If I could give Zero stars … well you’ve heard it.
I have never been treated so badly . The office manager hung up the phone on me , because I wasn’t interested in getting a “ scolding” for appointments I missed. I spent almost 1K and nothing not one thing was done. ( oh except a really bad cleaning ) They were supposed to refer me on … to a pedorthodontist ?? I guess they remove teeth and do whatever ??
Sedation may be good in an emergency but as a day to day dentist don’t go here. The dentist who saw me never explained exactly what was wrong … what exactly needed to happen. Just made a non existent referral. So now I’m starting all over again . Oh and by the way ( worst cleaning I’ve ever had) , and the most expensive. And my teeth are falling out !! I think if I was the manager ( I would feel bad for this person who is now freaking out because dr. Mustafa ( sedation dentistry) had said I need 8 … yes 8 , teeth removed. Idk ????♀️ about you but I’d like to keep my teeth. Call me crazy but …
I just can’t recommend this dentist . They give you no information, they do not follow up on their job ( referrals ) because the manager “ Corey” ?( I think that’s her name ) doesn’t like you ? ( professionalism is not here) so they don’t do the referral . Now I have to start all over again … and yes my teeth are literally falling out of my head . Shocking … Just no other word for it.

I've always struggled with severe dental phobia as well as an extremely sensitive gag reflex. I've now had three procedures done under sedation at Sedation Dental Group and each time the staff have gone above and beyond in making me feel as comfortable as possible in a setting that I've been fearful of my entire life. Special shoutouts to Dr. Alkhani, her assistant (whose name I forget right now but she's great!
), Dr. Charapov, Kate Willmott, and of course the front desk staff for all that they do. I couldn't be more grateful for the work you do.

I have a severe, severe phobia of the dentist which results in suicidal ideation on an extreme level. I needed my wisdom teeth removed. There was only one staff member, a hygienist, that put enough effort and care in to ensure I felt safe. I confirmed that she was going to be there for my procedure.
WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME, they forced that one staff member (the one I felt safe with) to stay out of the office throughout the preparation of my surgery, refusing me to even so much as see her. The day-of.
They DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS AT ALL. JUST MONEY.
If you have a phobia, DO NOT GO HERE. They will only make it 400 times worse, just like they did mine.
And to the staff at this dentists office, hi. You know who I am. Where do I send the therapy bill?

I've had the most difficult time in life with my teeth and anxiety etc.. I'm 28 and need almost every tooth taken out u can tell this scares me , I can't afford to do a full mouth extraction / sedation it would've been alot over 20k for everything at once , Sedation has done a tremendous job in making me feel as comfortable as can be , as well as a making sure my anxiety is at a minimum ( i was literally shaking and having troubles breathing ), Dr Mustafa and the dental assistants are amazing when he put the needles in I barely felt it and was done my procedure in about 30 mins and throughout the procedure they do a great job at talking to u and making you feel comfortable I would recommend Dr Mustafa to others for sure
