Coming into Nexstep I came in with a great deal of trepidation. Having no idea what to expect my mind was reeling. In a culture that teaches us to constantly judge ourself in relation to others and that prioritizes climbing the socioeconomic hierarchy above all else, we train ourselves to constantly put on a facade. You aren’t supposed show weakness, and proselytizing about your problems is considered to be a mortal sin. Often we feel like burdens for sharing our problems, negative though patterns, and emotions. As addicts, we feel as though we are fundamentally broken. This feeling of brokenness often causes us to isolate ourselves for the fear of burdening others (I know this was the case for me). From the moment I walked into Nexstep, I was greeted with nothing but compassion and understanding. Not only is it a top-notch medical facility, with outstanding medical staff, but it is a refuge for anyone struggling with mental health issues. They did everything in their power to make sure I was doing well both physically and mentally. The staff consisted of some of the most kind and compassionate people I have ever met. Rather than feeling like an outcast (like I had for so long), I felt as though I had been accepted into a family. The staff constantly took time out of their incredibly busy schedules to sit down with all of the patients and try to relate with them on a personal level, as well as share their own stories to help us better understand ourselves and the path that lay ahead. It was the most incredible support system I could have asked for, and they took me from feeling at my lowest ever to having compassion for myself. I can genuinely say they prepared me for the next step (pun unintended) in my journey of recovery. If you, or anyone you know, is struggling with addiction I cannot recommend Nexstep enough. Get the help you need, it’s here waiting for you.

Next step was the perfect place to start my journey in to recovery. They treated me like family and made sure to attend to my every symptom from detoxing. I was very comfortable and felt cared for. It’s a scary process to have to go through and the staff at next step made it manageable. I have been to several detoxification places and this one is by far the best. A BIG thank you to the staff, I just celebrated 1 year of sobriety!

I cannot express how much I was impressed by the facility and staff. As I was Going through a very difficult transition, they made sure everything I needed to feel cared for and comfortable was attended to. Completely amazing. Thank you all at Nexstep!!!

I can not recommend NextStep enough. The staff there was so amazing. Every single person was so caring and attentive to my needs. I was coming off several different substances (opiates, benzos, alcohol, dissociatives) in which I had been a daily user of high quantities for a very long time. This, along with the fact that I am a type 1 diabetic, made it hard to find a detox that would even take me. My detox was not the average detox by any stretch of the imagination, but they worked with me and got me through it as comfortably as possible. If you have any hesitation about next step please know that I would not be where I am without them.

there's very little to recommend @ nexstep and many variables to be concerned about. the more serious problems.are medical (e.g., the nurse/prescriber fellow should lose his license for unprofessional/dangerous'care') as well as serious programmatic issues (or rather the fact that there are no therapeutic or enrichments, etc., whatsoever).
if possible, go to UNI in slc.

Pros: The facility is actually very nice, you will be comfortable and eat very good. Most of the staff was very friendly and encouraging. Facility is clean. Billy has always been great and the nursing staff was awesome.
Cons: I have unfortunately had to use Next Step a few times to get back up on my feet. I have always had to pay out of pocket due to not having insurance. My main issue has been the way I have been treated after detox. I paid more than 3/4 th of their total cash cost, thought that was what we agreed upon. Then the last time I went, there had to be some sort of mix up or complete miss communication on what the total price actually was. Now apparently I owe them roughly 2-3k after paying 3k upfront. Biling has been very rude and hard to talk to at all. Makes me feel like it's jusr about the

Nexstep is an amazing place. I have detoxed there twice and both times I did I had a great experience. I was in a really bad place in my addiction both times and the staff have me hope and made me feel very welcome. The staff is amazing and choose to work in this field because they care about helping addicts like me. This is the only place I would ever want to detox at. I love Nexstep and know that they have played a huge part in my recovery and why I'm sober today. Thanks to everyone that works there! You guys are amazing!!!

I have been to several detox facilities and this one is by far THE BEST. I love ALL the staff including the Dr Jean Anne. They were very aware of my needs and made me very comfortable. They accommodated to my food allergies and made me feel like I was a real person and not just some junkie like the other places treated me. I would recommend this place to anyone who is really serious about recovering and starting a new life. It's really laid back and they give you all the time you need to rest. I LOVE Next Step and I am SO glad I gave this place a chance. If you come here, you will NEVER regret it, and honestly you may NEVER want to leave.

DO NOT go to Nexstep Detox. My sister had the worst experience! They were sweet at first, but once they got her money, they could care less. My sister had a seizure at Nexstep. They knew she was coming off alcohol but did not give her enough anti-seizure meds. She fell with her seizure and they did not even know where she was and didn't find her for over an hour!!! So no, that is not 24/7 care! She had a grade 4 concussion. Because of it, she was so sick and couldn't eat. They did not give her fluids/IV until the doctor finally talked to her 2 days later and asked if she was on an IV. The next day, they dropped her off at the hospital and told her she couldn't come back. They were so rude and even said they didn't want to use up the IV's they had. Sadly, she passed away 4 days later of a brain bleed. I think the outcome could have been avoided if they gave her the right amount of meds!
