Some individuals who recently had a hair transplant are actually not aware of the hair transplant growth timeline. Hence, they expect their hair to grow and see results within 3-4 months.

But unlike any other surgical procedure where you get to see results within a month. In hair transplant it's a different story.

Hair transplant final results take around 8-12 months to be obtained and in some cases it takes up to 18 months.

How Long Does it Take to See Hair Transplant Final Results?

Before we start, it's important to know that the transplanted hair will grow in a different rate from one person to another. Therefore, it's advisable not to compare your own results with someone else.

Hair transplant progresses month by month and it takes up to 12 or 18 months to see the final results. During this period of time the hair goes through different stages:

During the first 2-3 weeks the newly transplanted hair starts to fall out ad this completely normal and shouldn't ring an alarm.
At 3 months mark, the transplanted hair starts to grow back. But the growth will be slow and steady.
Between 5-6 months, you will start noticing some initial results but the hair will be thin and not very dense.
Almost 85-90% of hair growth is achieved between the 8th and 9th month.
In some cases it takes up to 12-18 months to get the final results.

Kindly note that, the hair transplanted in the crown area grows at a slower rate than the frontal and middle areas of the scalp. And that's due to lower blood supply and the anatomy of the crown area that grows in different directions.
